May 2003 Well, we finally found enough spare pennies lying around to get the media blasting done, and what did we find? A few more rust spots to fix, of course. Our body repair man, Mauro Hernandez, had a couple weeks without customer work, so he's been preparing the roof and rear panels for painting. He also has done some repairs around the roof opening.
January-February 2003: The driver side windows had been broken at some point and water had pooled on the floor causing it to rust away. Additionally the plywood floors at the driver and passenger foot wells had decayed and needed replacement. Other small rusty areas were found here and there and a big chunk of rusted away floor had to be fabricated for the bottom of the car at the extreme rear. Our body guru, Mauro Hernandez, spent 4-5 weeks fabricating new panels to replace rusted through ones wherever needed. He removed the fenders, running boards, and nose of the car so that the metal could be cleaned and repaired properly, he completely removed all interior parts, bumpers, chrome, and stuff, getting it ready for the media blasters. |
